Nice Swim

I am just getting back into swimming after a Two week hiatus and today felt good. It must have been the sun:-). Everything is going my way, I am going to keep trucking through with the workouts and hope it all works out. I've been doing really well with keeping up writing my daily goals and eating well, too. I even was able to not eat the goodies I had for my class and it was CHOCOLATE!! Louisville, here I come?!!

Sun is shining...

Today was a good day. Got my teacher observation out of the way and it went really well. I'm going to miss this class. I also forced myself to go cycle for an hour. It was painful and I realized how fast I gained weight in the last two weeks of inactivity. But luckily, my friend Jen Cartwright challenged me to get in shape, sorta like a contest. Who is going to win??? ME!!! The Cavs blew it again so the night ended sourly, but at least Bryans back!!!

New Beginnings

Today was a start to a renewed me. After talking to Will, I've decided to write down my daily goals and try to reach them. This is easier than Freaking out over the bigger goal. Today I reached all of my goals. I might just be able to do it;-). Other then that, life is great.

At a Crossroad

Ok. So I haven't been training at all the last two weeks because I freaked out and had a complete mental and physical mental block. I mean, how can I, a REALLY overweight person do this? I can barely run and it's been frustrating. I know these are just excuses and the weight not coming off is my fault ( I LOVE beer and food) and I hang out with my boyfriend who doesn't eat well and doesn't seem to care about it either. But it makes it hard to stay active and healthy. I came to the conclusion that I have 15 weeks and I might still be able to do it and I will still train (really hard) and attempt to do it. The only thing that will stop me is not getting the time off from work or if I get into my doctorate program. So, let the training begin (again)!

Every Little Thing is Going to be All Right

My confidence has been lifted since I talked to one of my swim teammates who trains mostly indoors because he's a roadphobic too. I guess I have to get the spinervals video to help me. My running, although still slow, has gotten better because I'm now looking forward to the runs and my negative thoughts have become more positve and i've been eating better. This weekend I'm fixing a stripped screw in my bike seat, doing a long ride, a long run and practicing my nutrition. I still have my doubts, but I might be able to do it, especially if I hit my weight goal and get my nutrition down. After all, people have been through harder things in life then an Ironman. An ironman is just 16 hours of my life:-).

Still Discouraged

Ok, so yesterday morning, I rode my bike for an hour from 5am to 6am.  I was supposed to do it for two hours, but I freaked myself out because it was so dark out and South Florida drivers are nortorious for hitting cyclists and not caring that we have a right to be on the road too.  I am getting discouraged because life is getting in the way of my training.  I got at least an hour to 2 hours a day in, but can't seem to get all the hours in necessary.  I am also discouraged because I slept through the FAU tri, I had no desire to do it this morning, I was so tired but I did get a good 45 minute spin class in (without an instructor, who didn't show up.) and I am discouraged because the weight is not coming off.  I only cheat one day a week (usually Saturdays,) and am careful about what I eat and nothing is working.  I am either too hungry and ignore it or I  stuff myself at night or just get pissed and eat. GRR!! ;-).  This coming week I only have to do twelve hours of working out and have nothing planned to stop me.  I am also really confused about how to train for the nutrition aspect of the race and haven't really done it.  Any suggestions? (Thanks, kerry, for the website, that has also helped), but I need more.
On a brighter note, I swam in a meet and was actually happy with my times, considering I am not focusing on swimming, I am focusing much  more on running/cycling.  The running, by the way, comes much easier to others than me and it makes me mad that I can't run more than  6 miles right now.  I have been doing this forever!  Ok, I was side-tracked, but yesterday was nice and it ended on a really bright note with Bryan's 31st birthday dinner.  It was nice to be surrounded by friends.  Off to the Bon Jovi concert tonight.

I'm Lazy

It's been a while since I last posted, but I've been busy with weddings, spring break and TRAINING.  My running is getting faster (still my slowest at 12:27/mile), but I keep working on it.  I put my bike in for some routine maintenance last Monday and I still haven't got it back.  I NEED my bike back! I haven't trained on the bike since Wednesday, March 24, but will spin if I have to tomorrow.  I signed up for my 3rd and 4th tri this week.  My sprint distance one is on April 18th, (.25 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3.2mile run).  My olympic distance is May 3 (1mile swim, 26 mile bike, 6.2 mile run).  I just keep trying and training.  I can get back on track now that weddings are done and spring break is over (which I lost 2 more pounds while sitting in WSI class, must have been that boring!)  Back to school tomorrow, only 67 days left!  My training schedule calls for 17hours this week! I hope I can do it!

It's Been A While...

Ok, so the last time I wrote, I was just dealing with my neighbor.  Well, it's been busy since then.  This past weekend I participated in my first Olympic distance triathlon.  It took me 3 hours and 55 minutes to swim, bike and run.  I did terribly on the run because it was trail and too narrow and crowded.  I barely ran it because I fell and scraped my knee pretty badly.  I was on a 15:27/mile pace. I KNOW I can do 12/mile at least.  The bike was good.  I have some things to fix on my bike, like my chain that fell off twice while I was downshifting, and my computer. My computer didn't work, so I didn't know I was going SO SLOW (14mph)  I know I can get my bike to 20 mph, I have done it on my trainer many times.  I rocked the swim coming in 200th out of 1500 (24 minutes for 0.9 miles. I took it slow since I knew I stll had to bike and run.) I was happy with it though.  Overall, the tri was good and it taught me what I need to work on (THE RUN!!!)  I am signing up for two or three more Triathlons and then the IRONMAN.  I hope I can do it!!
Training's been going well, I did about 13 hours last week.  This week and next week,  unfortunately, won't be conducive for training since I have my friends' wedding and my twin's wedding coming up! I will try my best though!  Until next time...

moving along nicely

This weekend was a busy one with a long ride on Saturday (42 miles) and a swim meet on Sunday.  I posted terrible swim times, but I guess my body is just tired.  I hope to do the swim portion of the Ironman in 1hour or less, but not with what I swam yesterday! Also, my running is killing my feet and I am breaking down and seein a podiatrist for orthotics and to see why a shoe doesn't fit me properly.  I WANT to be able to run without pain and complete the marathon portion of the Ironman.  My cycling was awesome and I got it up to 39 mph for about 1 minute.  AWESOME!!! Oh, and two pounds lost, woo hoo!
I have to double up on some workouts this weekend because of my grade's field trip to St. Augustine, so I am off to bed for some early morning swimming/running, good night

Day Off

No school today, so I took this opportunity to catch up on lost sleep.  I had a fantastic weekend in South Beach with Bryan, but the consequences of that was that I ate too much yummy food and I did not train AT ALL on Saturday or Sunday.  I caught up today by swimming an hour, biking 1/2 hour and running for 40 minutes. I also bought  new shoes because my feet were in so much pain. I found out that my left foot is bigger than my right and I pronate on my left but suplate (sp?) on my right.  I hope I bought the right ones and they work this time!  I got Brook Dyad in 9 wide.  Unfortunately, they didn't have pink, but they did have my other favorite color, yellow!  They are gray with yellow piping, I pick them up tomorrow after work, since they didn't have the right size at this store ( I had gone to another store and tried on 9s).  I will let you know if they work, but boy do I hope so because I hate running due to the pain in my feet.  Also to motivate me, I added a weight loss ticker to the blog since I can't seem to get the scale to budge (yes, I know muscle weighs more than fat, but this is ridiculous!)  So, hopefully I can reach my goal weight by Aug 29. Off to enjoy the final hours of my day off...

hmm

So I woke up this morning at 4am and managed to accomplish my goals of running for 40 minutes and then swimming for an hour.  It felt great and I love working out in the mornings.  However, it was COLD this morning (for Florida), but the pool was like bathwater, ahhhh.  School was good, nothing new, got the treadmill mat and then preceded to use my bike for only 20 minutes instead of the hour I was supposed to because I was afraid of my downstairs neighbor complaining again.  My dad was nice enough to help me compose a note to leave on her door, explaining that I got the mat, I have to train, and am not breaking any condo rules and regulations.  Now, off  Zona Fresca with Bryan, Hooper, Heather, et. al.  Later...

Annoyances

So today started out fine.  I began my new mail plan (pictured), my students were well prepared for the FCAT Writes and seemed to have no trouble completing the prompt.  But as the day wore on, I realize how much I do not like working with some of my coworkers.  Lunch topics normally are how popular they are, their time spent clubbing, putting down others, and in general, being loudmouths.  FYI, I do not care that you have a boob job, that your dog peed when it was supposed to, or that you consider a girl eating more than one piece of pizza as classless. Anyways, after work,  I was able to get on my bike for 50 minutes (I was supposed to do 1hour 15min) until my downstairs neighbor pounded on my door like Armageddon was following her (It was 7pm, mind you.) She was complaining that my bike was interrupting her dinner.  I wouldn't normally have minded, however I was working out before 8pm, I never ride in the mornings or late at night, and she always has something to complain about.  I just told her I would stop for tonight, get a mat to put under the bike for tomorrow, and closed the door.  However, I will not stop because according to my homeowners association, I am allowed to do noisy things until 8pm.  I then went to go for my jog, but it was pouring too hard, and I was too annoyed.  So now I have to get up tomorrow at 4am to run and then go swim and make up for the lost bike time tomorrow.  I have officially learned my lesson, my workouts need to be done mostly in the morning and tomorrow I will be buying a treadmill mat and then telling my neighbor to suck it up.

Ironman Training Week 11

So, about 11 weeks ago I decided to do something outrageous, I signed up for the Ford Ironman Louisville on August 29, 2010. My real training however, began in January when I got my awesome pink camoflauge, Quintana Roo Tri bike. I've been trying to keep to the workout schedule, but it's been hard. I've decided to blog about my experience to motivate me to workout and accomplish this daunting task. Luckily, I have a great trainer, Will to help me and if you're in the Cleveland area, go to Aspire Fitness in Beachwood to get in the best shape ever! I am using a trifuel training plan, the advice of vetern Ironman finishers, and some guesswork. My training plan for this week is as follows:
Monday
rest
Tuesday
Bike 1 hour 15 minutes, Run 45 min, weights/core work 30 min (new!)
Wednesday
Swim 1 hour, bike 1 hour,
Thursday
Swim 1 hour, Run 1 hour and 5 minutes, weights/core work 30 min
Friday
Swim 1 hour, bike 40 minutes
Saturday
bike 2 hours and 30 minutes (longest ride yet)
run 45 minus
Sunday
Run 1 hour 40 minutes

So yes, it's a lot and yes, I do miss some minutes, but I figure since I love to write and I need all the motivation I can get, I decided to blog about it, enjoy!
